Ok, so its fair to say that I've been grumpy pants since June 1.
Well, because.
I just typed out why but then I reread it and it sounded so petty and uninteresting.
So let's just go with Because.
But there have been bright spots. And they have made me so happy and lifted my spirits in the way those serendipitous things do - where you catch your breath and hold it and grab the moment of stillness that has fluttered in your belly and reminded you that you indeed are happy and this life, yes, it is just plain good.
Here's the few I was lucky enough to have the camera in-hand for...
thank you, Jenna!!
From The Twelve Tribes of Hattie:
"Lawrence understood. It seemed to him that every time he made one choice in life, he said no to another. All of those things he could not do or be were huddled inside of him; they might spring up at any moment, and he would be hobbled with regret."
I'm feeling like Lawrence lately. Like life is so busy, but yet there are so many things we're still saying no to. Like we can't do it all. Like in doing lots, we're even saying no to being quiet and at rest. Like I want to say yes to what matters. And no to what doesn't. And never regret. When I looked through the pictures from the past 3 weeks on the camera tonight, I was humbled to find that I think we have said yes to good things, despite my self-absorption and exhaustion. This is Grace, right? That the beautiful moments of family and awareness of our own failings and fortunes seep in and make themselves known, in spite of ourselves. Blessed be.
