So I had been avoiding the blogosphere but to make a long story short, Thursday, February 24th is the day I lost my, ahem, blogging virginity. It had to do with peer pressure, boredom, and well, this...
That's me - preggers and eating snow. I craved it.
I began this project while confined to the couch 22 hours a day because I had oligohydramnios...A fancy word for the fact that I was trying to keep the amniotic fluid levels up for my baby girlie...due months later. We don't have cable. (We are cheap and old fashioned and when you're forced to watch PBS, you realize you actually like it. Really!) I blogged to keep myself in touch with civilization and maybe a little to keep from losing my mind.
Eventually, sweet Sage was born and brought our family closer to complete.
In the meantime, I figured out I like blogging. This is my space to truly spin through this crazy ridiculous upside-down confusing chaotic incredibly happy life of mine.
I'm serious about very little, and have been blessed with terribly small memory space that allows me to live each day to the fullest and truly forget most yesterdays. I used to teach roomfuls of pubescent junior high kids, but now I mother a houseful of small rascals. Here's the stats:
River is 6. He is focused and sensitive. He loves sticks, food, wrestling, and pestering his sisters and our cat.
Evelyn is 10. She is a ferocious protector of fairness, and a most generous kid. She likes to swim, make art, read (oh my happy heart), bake, and boss around the whole family.
Sage is 4 already (altho only 1 in this pic...I can't change it, I love it so). She is the sweetest, most tender, happiest little girlie I've ever met. She is a walking miracle. Absolutely everything is a party to her. She has a lisp, and I love it.
Ryan is our stud. He loves death metal music, me, our kids, the earth, and peanut butter. Not quite in that order.
Despite my best control-freak efforts, we generally live in chaos. But I'm passionate about raising our children to be open-minded, interested, Jesus-loving, hopeful humans. So I guess that's what this blog is mostly about.
Dr. Evelyn Rouner, who gave my daughter her name, was so very very wise. I can still hear her saying "serrrrrendiPityyyy!" and throwing her ringed hand in the air whenever an accidental discovery was made. Thus, the title of this blog. The thesaurus gives "happy chance" and "lucky break" and "tripping over" to the word "serendipity". All of which so perfectly define this life I'm trying to spin.
It still catches me off-guard that people read Serendipity! I'm positive Sara Jane is clicking on me every few minutes just to make me feel good, but in case I'm wrong, and you're one of those readers....Thanks.
