That's me...eating fresh snow. It is just heaven. I crave crushed ice urgently. This day, none was available, and snow filled in nicely.
So little girlie soon to be born, I can't even begin to mention, much less thank, all the people that are birthing you into this world...
- Shelese calls me and reminds me of how easy I have it - she has 20 more weeks of bedrest to go.
- Lisa brings me D'Angelo's and distracts me with interesting stories from her life.
- Becky and Melissa got our groceries.
- Melissa took 3 boxes of things from the nursery to Et Cetera.
- Elaine vacumed my floors.
- Libby comes over with her kids and lets me talk as much as I want about pregnancy, childbirth, and parenting.
- Tom picked up the remaining David Sedaris book from the library and brought it over.
- Rachel watches River every morning so I can stay horizontal.
- Mom pays for Anna to clean the bathrooms, folds my laundry, picks Eva up from school, hosted Eva's birthday party, feeds my family and cleans up the kitchen, and lets me lay in her recliner and watch her cable tv.
- Erin let me lay on her couch while she brewed 50 bottles of beer with Ryan.
- Cindy brought over El Cerrito and ate lunch with me.
- Kara sent me a package, complete with a 1954 Reader's Digest and bikini wax.
- Dad took Eva out for donuts.
- Chandra took Eva to school in the snow.
- Lisa sent me gum, and most importantly sent Eva a journal and glitter glue.
- Becky, Melissa, Hanneke, Chris, Megan, Jena, Jen, Becky, Cecilia, Jill, Nicole, Lucy, Tiffany, Amy, Cindy, Chandra, Gretchen, and Janie brought us meals.
- Kelsey comes over on Wednesday afternoons and takes my very restless kids to the park.
- Allison sent me a package with the best cd music ever, and an Anne Lamott book that kept me occupied from 3:30 to 6:30 am.
- Esther and Nate let me hold down their recliner for 3 entire evenings while feeding me and my family, and having bind-bending convos.
- Jolene picks up books at the library for me.
- My Mom to Mom bible study group meets in my living room.
- Leigh Ann brought over a picture book so your sister can understand how you were made and how you enter the world.
- River kisses my belly and says he loves you.
- Eva chooses books from her bookshelf for you, and keeps your brother out of your soon-to-be room.
- Kurt reminds people at church to pray for you.
- Library Karen orders books from the far corners of the state for me.
- Jena brings me chocolate, buys clothes for my kids, keeps Target in business, and brings me chocolate-covered strawberries.
- Ryan takes the kids swimming, rubs my back (twice!), bathes and puts the kids to bed every night, works extra shifts at Prairie View, hurries home from school every day, puts supper on the table, gets me crushed ice from D'Angelo's, watches chick-flick movies with me, and tells me to go lie down.
You're not even named and yet, and an entire village is bringing you to the world. I'm so humbled. You are one lucky girlie and I'm one lucky mama.
